Nestled amongst South Brisbane’s creative hub of local galleries and museums, Arthouse will be a prominent building celebrative of its artistic surroundings. Every aspect of the project responds to the highly creative context of the local area.

From local artists transforming the urban landscape, to renowned architects Rothelowman’s innovative sculptural facade, and the collaborative venture between Mirvac Design and leading artist Rowena Martinich to develop the Lobby Interiors.

A colourful collaboration between the Arthouse team and leading artist Rowena Martinich.

Through a competitive process, Mirvac selected leading public artist Rowena Martinich from a range of highly respected artists to showcase her work and collaborate with the team in the development of the ground floor lobby design.

Rowena Martinich is a Melbourne based artist, renowned for her use of radiant colour.

Martinich’s vibrant abstract expressionist paintings can be seen within a multitude of architectural contexts; embellishing foyers, commercial interiors, entire building facades, transitory spaces as well as invigorating residential interiors.

Through a range of collaborative workshop sessions a variety of creative concepts were explored by Rowena and the Arthouse team including vibrant colour schemes and creative lighting.

The collaboration has been a fantastic opportunity for Mirvac Design to push the boundaries to create an amazing space from a new and creative perspective.

Still in progress, below is an initial draft render of the lobby concept. The Arthouse lobby will have a sense of sophistication achieved with a vibrant striking feature wall of Rowena’s artwork backlit against a palette of luxurious finishes.

The dramatic art wall will run from the front of building facade continuing throughout the lobby interior. Warm concealed lighting will strategically highlight a backdrop of finishes including tan leather look wall panels, bronze mirror walls and black textural wallcovering to create a stylish and vibrant lobby.
