The Paddock
Whilst excavating for the Walsh Bay Homes on Pottinger Street, archaeological remains of 8 and 10 Ferry Lane were uncovered.
In 1900, at the time of the outbreak of the plague, number 8 was a single storey residence and number 10 two storeys. Mr Arthur Payne, at number 10, was a horse and cart driver, and was the first in Sydney to be diagnosed with the plague. His neighbour at number 8 was Charles Davies.
